Permission to move movable cultural properties and antique objects out of the Republic of Lithuania

Stalinis laikrodis. Jokūbas Gierkė. Vilnius, Lietuva, 1654 m.(1).jpgAccording to the laws of the Republic of Lithuania, antique items include all movable material items of human activity created 50 years ago or earlier, and other movable items or parts thereof, regardless of their cultural value. If the antique item was created (manufactured) before 1800 or is entered in the Register of Cultural Property, the seller of the antique item must have a license issued by the Department.

When exporting (irretrievably or temporary) movable cultural values and antique items (included in the list approved by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania titled 'The List of Movable Cultural Values and Antique Items, the export of which from the Republic of Lithuania requires permission from the Department of Cultural Heritage’), it is necessary to submit an application to the Department and obtain its permission.
